San Diego Padres Yu Darvish (37) ended this season early due to an elbow injury.

MLB.com, the official Major League Baseball media, reported the news of Darvish’s season ending on the 13th (Korean time), saying, “In the end, Darvish’s 2023 season did not work out like many other things in San Diego.”

Darvish, who signed a six-year, $108 million (approximately 143.5 billion won) contract with San Diego ahead of this season, had somewhat disappointing results with 8 wins, 10 losses, and an ERA of 4.56 in 24 games (136⅓ innings). And on this day, his season was officially halted due to elbow problems.

MLB.com explained, “Darvish met with reporters in the Dodger Stadium dugout and revealed that he had a stress reaction in his elbow.”

Darvish has not been able to play in the game due to elbow pain since he recorded a loss against Milwaukee on the 26th of last month, allowing 5 runs, 6 hits (1 home run), 1 walk, 1 walk, 1 base ball, and 3 strikeouts in 4 innings. After a subsequent examination, it was determined that his bone could be irritating his elbow. He received cortisone injection treatment in the hope that it would reduce the strain on his elbow. But when Darvish recently started playing catch again, he still felt pain in his elbow.

Darvish regretted, “Our team clearly did not reach its full potential,” and added, “Me too. “It is true that I am somewhat disappointed,” he said, lamenting the injury.

MLB.com said, “Darvish signed a six-year contract with San Diego before the season started. The important question now is what the future holds for Darvish. “Darvish underwent Tommy John surgery in Texas in 2015 and missed most of the season with the Cubs in 2018 due to a stress reaction,” he said, raising concerns about Darvish’s future. 먹튀검증

Darvish, speaking about his injury, described this injury as “pretty similar” to his 2018 injury in that his stress response did not progress to a fracture. MLB.com said, “The difference between the two injuries is the timing of the injury. In 2018, he was placed on the injured list (IL) in May and attempted to return several times during the summer. And when he never made a comeback, he underwent arthroscopic surgery. First of all, being injured at this point gives Darvish ample time to rest. He will not pitch for at least six weeks and will be re-evaluated. “After that we will know whether he will need surgery.”

“The stress response inherently requires time to recover,” Darvish emphasized.
